The Academic Excellence Scholarship recognizes every member who achieve a 3.5 GPA and above each semester.
The Schelsky Award/Scholarship was established in 1969. It is awarded to an outstanding new initiate from the fall and spring semester. Recipients will be selected based upon a review of SAE membership requirements.
Dick Schelsky – Indiana Beta ‘60 served as the first Province Psi Archon. He established the Phi Alpha Local Fraternity in 1968 which became Indiana Sigma of Sigma Alpha Epsilon on October 25, 1969. The Indiana Sigma Chapter is named in his honor.
The Artz/Flanigan Award/Scholarship was established in in 2017. It is awarded to an outstanding member who is a Sophomore. Recipients will be selected based upon a review of SAE membership requirements.
Walter Kevin Artz – Indiana Sigma ’77 served as Sergeant of the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department. He was shot and killed after responding to a domestic disturbance in Terre Haute, Indiana on July 1, 1987. He is the first Indiana Sigma brother to pay the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
William Timothy Flanigan – Indiana Sigma ’92 served as Chief Warrant Officer 3, Troop R., 4th Squadron, 278th Armored Calvery Regiment. He was killed in Kandahar, Afghanistan, when his AH-64 Apache helicopter crashed near the Kandahar Airport on July 2, 2006. He is the first Indiana Sigma brother to pay the ultimate sacrifice for our Country.
The Hancock Award/Scholarship was established in 2017. It is awarded to an outstanding member who is a Junior. Recipients will be selected based upon a review of SAE membership requirements.
Chris Hancock – Indiana Sigma ’96 served as Eminent Archon, Province Psi Archon, House Corporation President, Alumni Association President, Director of the John O. Moseley Leadership School and Eminent Supreme Recorder/CEO.
The Fouts Award/Scholarship was established in 2017. It is awarded to an outstanding member who is a Senior. Recipients will be selected based upon a review of SAE membership requirements.
Mike Fouts – Indiana Sigma ’96 served as Eminent Deputy Archon, Province Omega & Psi Archon, Chapter Advisor, House Corporation President, Alumni Association President and worked on the SAE National Staff.
Presented to one brother of the chapter annually since 1969. This award/scholarship recognizes one brother who is first among equals in exemplifying the true values of the Fraternity. This brother takes the concept of Fraternity, the principles on which we were founded and the notion of brotherhood and leads by example. The Indiana Sigma Zeal Award/Scholarship is the highest award bestowed upon a brother of Indiana Sigma
